The Star
Outside My Window
Illustrated by Pippa Curnick

Following the disappearance of their mother, 10-year-old Aniyah and her little brother Noah find themselves in foster care.
But Aniyah knows her mum can't possibly be gone for ever.
Because people with the brightest hearts never truly leave.
They become stars...
Inspired by her love of Disney's The Lion King, star hunter Aniyah is convinced a new star spotted acting strangely in the night sky belongs to her mum. So, armed with a map, two bicycles and a couple of new foster brothers, she embarks on an unforgettable mission to ensure the world knows who this extra-special star truly belongs to.
Hitting on the devastating and too-oft unspoken realities of 'domestic' violence upon children, The Star Outside My Window is a testament to the bravery of all child survivors living with the repercussions of male violence. And a salute to all incredible foster parents going above and beyond to help them heal.
